Prof. Dr. Siusana Kweldju teaches in the English Department at State University of Malang (UM). She is an applied linguist and educational researcher. She has been a research fellow at the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education (SEAMEO) Regional Language Center (RELC) in Singapore.
Her specialist interest is the teaching of English as a second language and rhetoric. She has developed a theory on lexically-based language teaching for all educational levels, especially in the context of Indonesia. She has written and published more than 75 articles in ESL, linguistics, and education.
In 2008 she obtained an award from APCEIU-UNESCO on International Understanding.
Most recently she has been involved in developing a model for the teaching of peace education and education for sustainable development, especially on water and sanitation. She has also been a speaker in conferences in Singapore, New Zealand, Canada, Thailand, and China.
